I am proud to be the perhaps the only immigration attorney in the United States practicing on the grounds of a former U.S. immigration inspection point. The East Boston Immigration Station was “New England’s Ellis Island” throughout its time as active immigration port. By some estimates, one in six Americans have at least one relative who walked by where my office now stands on their way up the “Golden Stairs” to a new life in the United States at some point between 1840 and 1959.

I am located on the second floor of the main building (just past the gate on your left) of the Boston Harbor Shipyard at 256 Marginal Street, East Boston, Mass. 02128.

DIRECTIONS

By Public Transport

Take the Blue Line to Maverick Station (one stop past Aquarium, about five minutes from Government Center), and exit out the back entrance (on your left as you exit the train). From the station, walk straight down the open space in the direction of the city skyline. Take a left at the road, walk past the greenway, and head all the way down Marginal Street. My office is on the second floor of the main building just inside the shipyard gate at the end of the street.

By Water Taxi

City Water Taxi offers fast, fun, and direct door-to-door service all around Boston Harbor—including a pier just steps from my office door! If you’re anywhere near the Boston waterfront, call them at 617-422-0392 and tell the driver that you’re heading to the Boston Harbor Shipyard (stop #68). (Here’s the complete map of all available stops.)

From I-90

Take I-90 as far east as possible (just past the airport) and exit at Frankfort Street. Take a left under the highway and then another quick left onto Bremen Street. Follow Bremen all the way to Sumner Street, take a left onto Sumner for one block, and then a right onto Orleans. At the end of Orleans, take a left onto Marginal. Proceed to the end of Marginal past the gate into the parking lot. My office is on the second floor of the main building.

From I-93 South (coming from north of Boston)

From I-93 S, take Exit 24B and follow the signs for Route 1A North/Logan Airport. Proceed through the Callahan Tunnel, making sure to stay in the right lane. Immediately after exiting the tunnel, take a right at the sign marked “East Boston,” without continuing onward on Route 1. Proceed down Porter Street, and take a right at the light onto Chelsea Street. Follow Chelsea through Maverick Square. Take a left at the end of square onto Sumner Street, a right at Orleans, and a left turn onto Marginal Street. Proceed to the end of Marginal past the gate into the parking lot. My office is on the second floor of the main entrance building.

From 93 North (coming from south of Boston)

Follow the signs to Logan Airport. Proceed from the I-90 directions above.
